Terms & Software Notice
Last updated May 29, 2026
progy is self-hosted, source-available software published by Moontography LLC - not a hosted service you sign up for. There is no public progy account to create and no public, pay-per-token gateway operated for third parties. This page explains how the software is licensed and who is responsible when you run your own instance.
01 progy is software, not a service
progy is a proxy you deploy yourself. Moontography LLC develops and publishes the source code; it does not operate progy as a hosted, anonymous, pay-per-token service for the public. Any instance Moontography runs is a private, single-tenant deployment for its own agents. If you want to use progy, you self-host it on your own infrastructure and your own provider API keys.
02 How the software is licensed
Your rights in the progy source code are governed by its license, not by this page. progy is dual-licensed: the Server Side Public License, version 1 (SSPL v1) for open / self-hosted use, and a commercial license from Moontography LLC for anyone who wants to offer progy as a hosted service or embed it in a proprietary product without the SSPL's obligations. See the project's LICENSE and LICENSING.md for the full terms. Note SSPL §13: offering progy to third parties as a service requires releasing your full Service Source Code under the SSPL (or obtaining a commercial license).
03 When you run your own instance, it's yours
If you self-host progy, you operate that service - Moontography LLC does not. You are the holder of the provider API keys you configure, which makes you the "Customer" under each AI provider's terms and responsible for all activity under those keys. You are responsible for complying with the terms, acceptable-use policies, sanctions/export rules, and any reseller requirements of every provider your instance reaches, and with all laws that apply to you.
The provider responsibilities that attach to running progy - and the difference between a low-risk single-tenant deployment and a billed, multi-tenant one - are described in OPERATING.md. Read it before pointing progy at a real provider key.
04 No warranty
The software is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. The applicable license governs; in case of any conflict, the license controls over this page.
05 Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Moontography LLC and its owners, members, and personnel will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to the software or your operation of it. You assume all responsibility for how you deploy and use progy.
